Firsts

First sound that she actually connected to a meaning: uh-oh (usually after throwing something to the ground).

First word that she imitated: coat (only it sounded more like "cowte")

Words she's been saying in the last 3 weeks/month:
coat
shoe (seeoo)
sock (sah)
cheese (chee)
juice (jeeoo)
down (dow)
hi (hieeee!)
bye-bye (bah-bye)
night-night (nuh-niheee)
mommy (maheee!)
daddy (daaeee!)
...so many more, too. She'll just hear something, parrot it and Tyler and I will act like she just successfully developed cold fusion.

Her first sentence was yesterday as daddy left for work: Bah-bye daaaeeee!

Oh, and don't get me started on letters. She knows B, C, E, I, K, P, T - and yesterday she's sitting there reading letters from the cereal boxes peeking out of the top of the trash ("P! P! T! T!") and she's saying "Q." Q! Where did she learn that?

This may be the most boring post in the universe to everyone but me and Tyler. But, to me and Tyler it is absolutely the most important, pivotal, earth-shattering stuff you can talk about.

  3. Thanks for sharing. Those first words and sentences are pivotal moments in your life because your child is starting to communicate. It is so difficult when he or she wants something and you have no idea what it is. It sounds like Claire is a healthier child, though, then my Abigail, whose first word after Mommy was cake, then cookie (I think). Congratulations.
