Barely Hanging On and Fourth of July FIRE!

I feel like I'm barely hanging on, but I've been barely hanging on since mid March, so...you know.

You know what, guys? Wear the mask. If it's unpleasant, and if it only does 2% good, I promise you will live and won't look like an idiot. You'll look like a person who tried your best to do what was safe for your community.

So what have we been up to? We've been exploring places like Moab, Lava Hot Springs, and some of the fun places around Cedar City.

The fourth of July was celebrated at home. Cedar City has the greatest parade with re-enactments from American history. This country is a dang miracle. Thank you parade and also Hamilton on Disney+ for driving that home.

That's our very Claire in the parade.

So here's the exciting and terrifying thing. While we were doing fireworks with friends in the back yard a fire started in the vacant lot behind us.

THIS DOES NOT MEAN WE STARTED IT. There were a lot of people doing fireworks in the neighborhood, cop who kept asking whose fault it was. We did put it out, though. It. Was. Terrifying. Tyler sailed over the back fence a few times and I'm not going to deny it, with all the terror and confusion I was like "dang, my husband is fast."

The cop that showed up asked one of our friends what caused the fire (like seriously, he asked 57 times, it was the fourth of July, what do you think buddy) and our friend shrugged his shoulders and said "lightning?" So basically he's the coolest guy ever.

Anyway, here's a picture of it, which doesn't do the scary-ness justice. Everyone was fine, though, no houses burned down and we were not thrown in jail.

Happy July 4th, happy July, happy everything. Death to COVID, prayers for free speech, kindness, sanity, and reason. And civil discourse. Also, prayers for no more fires. Also, I lost my phone in a river. Another story.
